My little 1gb shuffle works great as a key and as a place for music. I store my important documents, my software keys, a copy of my encryption/decryption software for my keys, and I still have room for music and audio books.

lol just a lil ;) But how the hell could a 3 year old understand how to play the gane? It requires quite of bit of planning and thinking to avoid going bankrupt, especially if you put it in FULL mode where you gotta buy and sell stocks...
Agreed - it's probably just the teacher in me ;)

Well at first it comes in this great little box, after opening it I was amazing. Not at the size of the iPod but rather on how much it wighes or I should say how much it does not. Its very light, while driving for 15 mins I could not feel it in my shirt pocket. I installed the cd then pluged the iPod and downloaded 130 songs (I got the 512mb version) onto it. All seems great till now.
I am now in my car driving home, and get a taste of newest iPod from Apple. The sound it great, to my normal user ears it sound as good as it can. The controls are easy to use and are in the right place. I find that not having a screen is a bit on the downside since I got lost a few times trying go forward or go back to a song I heard. For my use on the other its great not having a screen, I just put the songs I want and hit the gym.
iPod Shuffle vs iPod
Here is the bug question, and a hard one unless you know what you want. I read a few post on how some people wanted to get rid of there iPod (5gb-10gb) to get an iPod Shuffle (some here and other forums). The iPod shuffle is for people with a small playlist or who are on the move a lot. I hit the gym 5 times a week and do many other sports. The problem I had was that the iPod is to large for me to carry around with me while doing sports. The iPod shuffle is very light and does the job I need very well in this area. Unless you need the protibility of the iPod Shuffle when doing any kind of sports your normal iPod is the better deal.
Final thoughts
All-in-all the iPod Shuffle is a great product, its small, sounds great and look good. I can use it as a USB thumb drive aswell, thou its not as fast as a normal one. I am very pleased with it so far and inted to use it a lot. If your looking for a flash mp3 player then this is the one for you, if you have a large collection and dont mind the extra wight then stick with your normal iPod, I for one have two iPods, the U2 and the iPod Shuffle both are great players for different uses.

The issue wasn't addressed in 4.3. Apple doesn't find it a problem. They did it on purpose. Is anyone working on a way to fix this? It seems that the reduction of power has to be a software control not a hardware control thus it should be able to be changed by someone with programming/jailbreak experience. Any help would be appreciated!

I have great faith in SpyMac, and fully expect that they will sink to even newer lows. http://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=19550
Even if you look at some donation programs run by major business, 3% is still quite low. Some of them are so poorly run that they may only have 3% getting to the people that need it.

Actually, I believe that psychologists would classify that as smack-in-the-middle of denial. The denial that one's current choices may not be correct.
The denial stage can be further broken up.
Denial 1: Inured/Habituated- blind belief in one's own convictions doesn't even consider that there may be other perspectives.
Denial 2: Protectionism - acknowledges there are other perpectives, but actively shuns them; still believes that one own convictions are the correct course of action.
Denial 3: Reactionism - beleives that others questioning ones convictions are attacking.

Hello guys, new poster here. I have nowhere else to go except for the Apple store which I do not want to do just yet.
Last night, I was getting out of my car and I had my iPhone on my lap. Naturally I forgot that it was there and it fell on the floor. I inspected it for damage and didn't see a scratch or anything. I get inside and further inspect the phone and I noticed that it shut off. I tried to turn it on like normal, and then once that did not work, I tried to reboot it (home and power held down together) and that did not work. I also noticed that it fell where the Vibrate On/Off switch was, because of a scratch I could not see outside.
Anyway, I tried charging it via USB and then rebooting it. All that would happen is the Apple screen came up for about 10 seconds tops and it would shut off by itself. I tried charging it via the wall charger and I got a bit farther:
the Apple screen would show up, and go through the normal motions. It told me I needed to plug it into iTunes (which I can't) so I knew I had to have screwed something up. All I am able to do is make an emergency call. The phone says I have No Service, it is the wrong time, it also has an alarm icon near the battery, and the battery itself is saying it is charging from 0%-1%. Once I take it off of the charger it dies right away. I did some research this morning before posting and I found that it could be that the battery had come loose in its fall, or screw came loose, whichever.
Have any of you experienced this before? Have a solution? Anything?
Thanks in advance.

I have a feeling this is going to open up a lot of loopholes and backdoors for foreign developers.
Why? There were already a bunch of languages and have been for a long time.
Who does the translation?
A person who knows the language. (Or Google...but that's not a good idea. ;) )
Do the developers have to get that done?
Yes.
So what does the localization service provide exactly?
What service? There are more languages available now than there were before, that's all.
Sounds like a lot of work!
Kind of, yes.
how about if I'm not in the US but I want to use English?!
Change the store to the U.S. store. In some cases it's enough to have your language settings on English. (e.g., just setting the store to Japan won't get you Japanese text for app descriptions--if available--you have to set your computer to Japanese as well.)

Line Update: Apparently my number are off or my eyes deceive me. Apple rep did a count and said there were 89. See pic.
I drove by the Leawood Apple Store, but opted for BestBuy at 119th & Metcalf. I was number 19 in line and got exactly what I wanted. White 64 GB WiFi 3G AT&T.
I may go by the Apple Store and try to get a Red Leather Cover.

Hi all, please bear with me.... :o
We have individual iTunes libraries on our PCs and can access them via each other's PCs and iphones and stream to our Apple Express in the Living room and that's all good.
I'm now looking at getting the rest of our CDs ripped and stuck on a shared hard drive and that's all good too!
I did rip (using EAC) a shedload a while back and have somehow ended up with a folder full of albums-some in WAV and some in FLAC.
I have now seperated the albums into "FLAC" and "WAV" folders in a folder called "EAC Rips".
Here's where my brain explodes...
We're not audiophiles and I'm happy to keep the existing music (on our PCs, in our iTunes libraries) in whatever format it's currently in (which is a mix of MP3 and Apple Lossless).
We've only recently got the Airport Express and we love it and it's rekindled my desire to have all our music available and selectable to stream to it.
As I say, we're not audiophiles, so a 1:1 copy (quality wise) is not a priority.
Having said that, what I'm thinking of doing is (if possible), convert the albums in the "EAC" folder to Apple Lossless and then stick it in my iTunes library and then carry on ripping the rest of our CDs into a format that you guys suggest.
The other thing that makes my head spin is tagging!
I really didn't realise there was so much to it and I always assumed that as long as you had the Artist Name>Album Name>Song Title that all was good (how wrong I was!).
The reason I say that, is that last night I dabbled with converting...
I added an album to iTunes last night that I didn't think was adding, (the album in question is an album that was ripped using EAC to WAV), but couldn't then see it where I would expect (alphabetically).
I then realised that the tagging had gone haywire somewhere along the way, as I found the album right at the bottom of my iTunes library (in iTunes), with pretty much the artist name/album/song title all in the artist name column!
So that's why it "wasn't there" (alphabetically) in the iTunes listing when I scrolled down looking for it.
So-getting back to my question...

what a whiny bunch of spineless, humorless co-dependent people we've become in America.
If you know history, you know he was talking about Stalin & others who "erased" generals & others who were ousted or assassinated. They then airbrushed them out of all photos.
So I guess that means that the Steinbrenner was Hitler and McCarver approved of the death camps right?
I thought it was actually funny and harmless. But I guess at every moment, someone has to be offended or hurt.
What's happend to this country?!!!! A bunch of 7 year olds running for mommy.
Oh, and Macfan-please go somewhere else with your hysterics.

I bought one of these for my G5, love it. Looks cool and has very nice action, I seem to fly on this board! 2 USB ports (one at each end). Pretty cheap too.... $39 at Newegg I think. It gets my vote. :D
Sounds too good to be true ;)
How does it compare to an alubook keyboard? Does it have the same feel to it? I'm a bit worried that the keys will not feel as 'soft' as the alubook's.
I tried this one, and it really feels horrible (like a VAIO.. *shudders*) : http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Logitech%20UltraX%20Keyboard%20Keyboard:1991330435
Thanks for the link, I'll try to find a shop carrying it in Europe!

They can now be purchased online as well in all parts of the country for $249 through AT&T (there's no contract when buying the phone, either), there's a thread about it in the iPhone news forum. So I think that price would be very optimistic, as anyone on here could get one for $249 and have it unlocked in twenty minutes.
Also, if it's a refurb, why does it come in the packaging for new phones? IIRC, refurb iPhones come in brown boxes...
Your best bet is ebay, especially if you want prices like that.
I read this in the last two replies... What are you guys talking about? It IS on ebay - thats what this thread is
