When I buy RAM for my Macs, I buy Crucial, cheap, reliable and high-quality. Apple uses mostly cheap Korean brand 'Hynix' memory modules in their Macs and they are quite unreliable. Can't speak for OWC though...

So it looks like the Handbrake problem is all sorted out as I have encoded about a dozen more movies all using the queue and it's running perfectly.:D
However a new problem has shown up with Rip It. About 1 out of every 10 dvd's will make the superdrive roar and make a loud vibrating sound although I put my hand on the Mini and there is no vibration. Also it bogs down the system with a lot of beachballing, Activity Monitor takes about 5 minutes to open. Most dvd's will take between 20-30 minutes to rip, but on these ocassional "bad" ones they take over an hour. When Rip It is running with the "good" discs the system react like normal.
Anybody ever heard of any of this with Rip It? In the next couple of days I might download Mac the Ripper and see what it does with these "bad" discs.

I could never get pwnage to produce a working ipsw for my iPad 3G... so I took the iBSS & kernelcache (rename to zip and extract) from ..customrestore.ipsw for tetheredboot. make sure your iPad is running the Apple 4.3 and jailbreak using redsnow.. point to 4.2.1 ipsw, it will not boot, when it hangs blackscreen with a white square use tetheredboot and u have cydia... :)
That's pretty sneaky, gonna have to try that out!

sorry, basically I'm trying to initiate a connection to my server in application:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions: this is to instantiate my cookie that im using to sync devices to my app, if someone gives out their register code then their device will be bounced off my server when the new device with their reg code syncs... thus not allowing them to make queries to the database.., if there is no response then connection:didFailWithError: will catch the fail error and the action sheet should pop up on the main screen.
Thanks for the hep will have another look at my code with your response in mind.
EDIT:
so found a solution in some sample code refereed from in the reference documentation.
it was as easy as swapping
[actionSheet showInView:[UIApplication mainWindow]]
with
[actionSheet showInView:self.window];
I also realized that i was calling the wrong name for the window as it was initialized as window in my .h file not mainWindow... think i need a nap .. :)

I am looking at purchasing a 160GB (Lacie) external drive. I have a 12" iBook with 30GB of storage (only 600MB available). I need a place to backup my hard drive and store these video files of astronomical size. Is there a difference between the d2 and Porsche designs?
- auto shutoff?
- easy syncing?
-noise?
Thanks.

Would I be considered 'old school'?
I've been here for quite a while...
but not nearly as long as some people.

Looks great. Remember who you are showing it to. While I liked the music, I could absolutely see how it could turn off some Agency people. Tone it down.

Maybe you should post all your copy on this forum and let everyone do the work for ya.
Of course with my outstanding spelling and compostition skills, my own personal editor (skunk keeps working on me, to no avail I might add), and grammer check (I think it is on here somewherz), I could just do that my self 4 ya.
Rotz a Ruck there snapz. :p

Friday nights are the standard maintenance period for the Apple store.
You should get excited when you see that graphic, and it is not a Friday night.

no. but if you want better 'sound quality' then use a higher quality compresion (192 kbps instead of 128 kbps it makes a difference and sounds MUCH better than the 96 kbps that some mp3 players compress at). with 40 GB or the new 60 GB photo iPod availble you should have plenty of room for a better compresion.
I always rip to the highest compression rate, or uncompressed.. My problem with the ipod was that at loud volumes it distorted. The problem is with the signal-to-noise ratio on the device..
I'll look into the JBL Creatures... But I think I'm going to have a hard time replacing my THX 2.1 Klipsch speakers. I'm going to see how good they look alongside my mac.. I dont know if you guys have heard these speakers before, but they are amazing!
Thanks for the suggestions.

My favorite is SilverStripe. Not as widely used or known, but I love the flexibility it gives me as a developer and it is pretty user-friendly, too.
Side note -- Ruby on Rails is framework, not really a CMS. It would be comparable to Cake, Symfony or Yii (frameworks for PHP).

it's advertising. they use what looks best. one tv advert [where i am] showed someone doing their banking via the internet on an imac. the bank concerned doesn't support macs. a large pc seller has a an advert about leasing instead of buying, the computer used in the advert is a pismo, the apple logo is PSed out

You can install Snow Leopard client from a USB stick. You can google for instructions on how to prepare a USB stick.
A clean install of Snow Leopard would be ideal unless you're moving from an old Mac and would rather not setup and configure everything again.

The Apple Learning Interchange was used for collaboration, not just publishing lesson plans. It had a members list and places for interaction so educators could connect with and work with each other. I don't see how the iTunes U can replace that. This seems like a step down.

I was suppose to trade this to another member, but the member Never ship his as agreed, I was able to have mine sent back to me, he just printed a label and never shipped...
So I am looking to trade this phone for a unlocked 4G iphone, Must work on Tmoble, I have tons of refs here and sold over 100 items....
Please PM me if you want to trade really need it ...I also do not use MP3 or videos so a 4G is great :)
you will also get the 100.00 rebate....Sorry to interject, but it's too late at this point to get the rebate code from Apple unless you've already obtained it.

DaisyDisk seems to give a good indication of where all those missing GBs are going.
Disk Inventory X (http://www.derlien.com/) does this as well, with a nice graphical "treemap" that shows you what kinds of files are clogging up your drive.

You could certainly make an application that is mostly HTML5/Javascript, that was the way that Apple originally intended for the iPhone 1. For webapps hosted externally you don't even need Xcode or a Developer license, but you can wrap a webapp into a "regular" app and then you would.
