Hello, I'm wondering what steps I need to take in order to help my husband become a US resident (eventually a citizen but one step at a time). I have figured out that we need to fill out an I-130 but I keep seeing everyone talk about an I-485 and I'm curious if we need to use that one as well, and how many others???

Really quickly, our history: I'm a 19 year old US citizen by birth, and my husband is a 27 year old undocumented alien from Mexico. We just got married on Valentines day 2011 and I'm pregnant also which is why I would prefer to do this quickly as to prevent a possible deportation although he is an amazingly wonderful guy who's never had a run in with the law, it's just a constant concern of mine. =( He also has a 5 year old son from a previous marriage with an American woman (she cheated on him, and then divorced him) who we eventually would like to get custody for since his mother is a very bad person but that's another story.

I realize this is a complicated process that most people would suggest using a lawyer for, but I know there's people out there that have accomplished this without one and so that is my goal to do this on our own but I'm thinking that some advice from experienced individuals would benefit me greatly in this task. =) Any help you're willing to give would be greatly appreciated!! Thank for the reply. I hope the suggestions will be acted on and implemented at the earliest. It's frustrating to see that the priority dates haven't moved by a single day in last 6 months, something really needs to be done and I will do my support IV with anything.

I've read somewhere before that if you did not sign G-28 it means the receipt will go directly to you. But, I'm not sure.

My HR called DBEC to get the final status of LC. They replied that "notice of forward" had been issued and since there is no query from that position. They have asked my Hr to call in 15 days to hear the final status.

Have you guys heard anything like "notice of forward"( it was something like this)...

These LC people in dallas are killing me..!

What you are doing is illegal as per DOL guidelines. The beneficiary CANNOT be involved in preparing the job and experience requirements for the job. They have to be done by the Company HR or your manager. All the PERM preparations are to be done by an attorney or if the company doesn't hire one, it has to be by the HR/Manager. Never by the beneficiary himself. You can just provide your educational and experience information to the company and the rest is handled by them.

When I went recently for my EAD renewal FP (I deliberately e-filed EAD renewal to get this FP notice, and it came fast), I took a copy of my I485 receipt notice, and explained to them that I have been waiting for that other FP for almost a year (never opened SR). They promptly took both FPs (code-1 for I485 and code-2 for EAD), and also told me I should never have waited this long, and instead should have contacted them (I guess they meant by Infopass) after 2-3 months.

Where was your finger printing? Did you talk to any IO there? My EAD FP is scheduled and I will try to utilize the chance if possible.

I am going to travel to India.

I am in H1B and have valid Advanced Parole and expired EAD.

What are the documents needed for Advanced Parole in Port Of Entry. Also my lawyer is going to file the EAD this week.

1. 485 Receipt Notice.
2. Copy of 140 Approval Notice.
3. Employment Verification Letter.

Anything else? Please let me know.
